Someone sent me a list of home learning resources through Whatsapp that I thought was particularly useful during this time of school closures. I’ve compiled the list along with some other resources I’ve found through the years that we’ve enjoyed using.

Free Resources for Home Learning
- Scholastic has created a free learn-from-home site with 20+ days of learning and activities.
- Khan Academy – free learning program on a variety of subjects and grade levels.
- Mystery Science – open and go science lessons for elementary kids. Paid subscription but they are offering a free first year. They are also offering free science lessons in the wake of school closures.
- Take a virtual tour at any of these 12 famous museums.
- Free curriculum site with everything from preschool activities to 12th grade is here.
- Funbrain – educational games, videos, and books for kids up to 8th Grade.
- National Geographic Kids – games, videos, and educational information for kids.
- Math Game Time – free math games for kids up to Grade 7.
- Literactive – games and printables on reading for kids up to Grade 7.
- Science Kids – experiments, games, facts, quizzes, projects, lessons, and videos on science.
- Prodigy – RPG Math Game for kids up to Grade 8 (full access available on learning content). We’ve written about this program before.

Free Home Learning Websites for the Younger Kids:
- E-Learning for Kids – Education website covering a variety of subjects for kids up to Grade 6 (Math, Science, Environmental Skills, Computer Skills, Health, Language Arts, Life Skills).
- Oxford Owl – Reading, English, and Math for kids age 3-11 years.
- Starfall Education – Kindergarten to Grade 3.
- ABCYa – Pre-K to Grade 6
- Splashlearn – Maths for kids up to Grade 5
- Storyline Online – Books for kids read aloud through video.
- PBS Kids – PBS videos and games for kids.
- Highlights Kids – games, activities, and educational videos.
- Cool Math 4 Kids – maths games.
- Unite for Literacy – online non-fiction books for kids.
- Switch Zoo – animal games.
- Seussville – Dr Seuss games, books, and videos.
- Turtle Diary – Word and number games for kids up to Grade 5.
- ABC Kids – ABC’s games, shows, apps, and activities for kids.
YouTube Channels:
This is a list of educational youtube channels but they cover content for a wide age-range. I suggest you check these for age-appropriateness for your kids, especially if you have younger children.

- BrainPop – covers a variety of subjects and is currently offering free access during school closures.
- Kindle Unlimited – kindle unlimited subscription offers unlimited access to over 1 million kindle books on Amazon.
- GetEpic – online digital books (free access now available through your teacher during school closures).
- Curiosity Stream – paid subscription for documentaries online.
- Tynker – paid subscription for coding games.
- Dreambox Learning – adaptive K-8 math program.
- Reading Eggs – online reading program for kids. They offer 30 days free trial.
- Outschool – pay per class, live online classes for kids 3-18 years.
- Udemy – paid courses online.
- iReady – paid programs for mainly for maths, reading, and writing.
- Beast Academy – Math program currently offering a promo for school closures (Promo Code: FlattenTheCurve)
- Creative Bug – paid arts and craft lessons (free trial available).
